The High-Five Writing Rubric was created for a primary classroom. Students are allowed to do a self-assessment on their writing or a peer assessment for their classmates. Collaboration is encouraged to help each other become better writers. Students must meet 5 points to earn "HIgh-Five Writing". 1. Do I have a capital letter and punctuation? 2. Do I have proper spacing between words? 3. Do I have at least 5 sentences? 5. Do I have at least 6 words in each sentence? I have these rubrics copied and cut into strips. They are kept in a basket at the writing table and students self-assess and staple to their work before submitting. When the students ask about their writing? I ask "Is it High-Five Writing? Then they give me a high five!!!
