This packet is a collection I have made to compliment McGraw-Hill Wonders First Grade high frequency/ sight word development and assessment and Whole Brain Teaching “Super Speed Read” fluency building ideas.

Each page has the new sight words per 2 weeks. The top section has the new words introduced in a week, midway through are the next week. They can be read alone, but better yet, read in pairs responsively. I make a booklet (copy 2 sided & stick in a duo-tang folder) for each student. I model the whisper voices needed and reading responsively with students. Then after demonstrating these skills, they “earn” a book mark or fancy “drink stirrer” to help with tracking. We also do one minute timed paired or individual readings and mark our progress. Super Speed Read is a great transition activity, “what to do if I’m done” activity or any other “oh, dear - We have 10 more minutes…” activity .
