Product Description
This fun word game is an absolute favorite in my classroom! My kids are constantly asking to play this game during center rotations.

Included in this download: 55 high-frequency word cards, 6 FLUTTER! cards, 7 TA-DA! cards, and 1 title card to label your storage container or baggie. You can decide how many of the word cards and special cards to use, depending on the size and ability of your group.

Preparation: Print, laminate (optional), and cut the word cards apart. Shuffle the word cards together, making certain that the FLUTTER! and TA-DA! cards are distributed evenly throughout the deck.
Note: If a large number of children are playing this game, you may want to print and use two decks of cards.

Directions:
There are a few ways to play this game. Take a look below and choose one that works for your class.

Option 1:
Set a timer for the desired length of time that you would like your students to play the game. (I use this during center rotations, so I set a timer for 15 minutes. When the buzzer goes off, the game is over.)

Place the deck of cards face down in the middle of the playing area within reaching distance. Player 1 turns the top card over so all players can see it. If the player can read the card, he/she keeps it. If the player cannot read the card he/she places it on the bottom of the deck. If the player gets a TA-DA! card, he/she takes an extra turn and places the TA-DA! card on the bottom of the deck. If the player gets a FLUTTER! card, he/she loses ALL of his/her cards and puts them on the bottom of the deck along with the FLUTTER! card. Each player continues in the same manner. When the timer sounds, the player with the most cards wins the game!

Option 2:
Place the deck of cards face down in the middle of the playing area within reaching distance. Player 1 turns the top card over so all players can see it. If the player can read the card, he/she keeps it. If the player cannot read the card he/she places it on the bottom of the deck. If the player gets a TA-DA! card, he/she takes an extra turn and places the TA-DA! card in a discard pile. If the player gets a FLUTTER! card, he/she loses ALL of his/her cards and puts them in the discard pile along with the FLUTTER! card. Play continues in the same manner with each player until all of the cards are gone. The player with the most cards at the end of the game, wins!

Option 3:
Using Option 1 or 2, you may want to choose a student to be the “leader” of the group and have that student show the cards one at a time (flashcard style) to the players instead of having each child turn his or her own card.

This game is great for small groups and centers!

Thanks for looking!
