High-frequency words are different from learned words, since most high-frequency words follow phonetic rules. For a kindergartener who is just learning to read, rapid decoding of the words that appear most often in early reading passages helps a student read more fluently.
This list of high-frequency words is organized into 24 sets of words, with 6 words per set. Also included in the product are flashcards for each set, with 6 cards printed on a single page. A kindergarten teacher would find the lists and flashcards extremely helpful. The entire list can be shared with parents at the beginning of the school year, and the flashcards can be duplicated and sent home each week, so that parents can review each week's new high-frequency words. The parent can cut the flashcards for each week and add them to their growing stack of high frequency word cards for at-home practice and review.
The word list and flashcards would also be helpful to a homeschooling parent of a kindergartener, or an O-G tutor teaching a student to read for the first time. The parent, or tutor, can build a review deck of flashcards, thus reinforcing rapid decoding of high frequency words. By introducing one set of flashcards per week, the parent's or tutor's review deck grows by 6 word cards each week. After 24 weeks, the parent/tutor has a complete set of flashcards for high-frequency words for at-home instruction.
