This document includes assessment, progress monitoring, and ideas for intervention for students who need or have difficulty learning high frequency or sight words. There is an progress monitoring form with space for recording the initial assessment, and 3 more progress monitoring periods, a student assessment page, a sample of a progress monitoring form that has been filled out based on a real student, and recommended instructional sequences and other ideas for improving the reading and writing of high frequency words. A Small Group tracking form is also available to make planning more convenient. All activities are research based and have been used by me and fellow teachers with great success. There are many ideas for differentiating based on need, grade/developmental level, and student progress. I also have a free set of 100 High Frequency Flash Cards available that are numbered and business card formatted for use with this document.
