This is an activity for students to practice and learn their High Frequency or Sight Words as they are called . The video gives students guided and individual practice on the first nine sight words. This activity can be done whole group, in small groups or even individually. It can be used in a center, as a May Do activity or during whole group instruction.

The activity sheets: the worksheet and key are the first two thumbnails. You can save the pictures as jpegs and download them to run copies. You can also download the pdf documents at www.ewcata.com if you are unable to download the pages here. If you are unable to download the mp4 file here, go to www.ewcata.com under YouTube videos and find the YouTube video link and PDF documents to download.

In the video, students are shown the words, listen to the pronunciation of the words and practice reading the words out loud. Then they are asked to color in the correct corresponding word identified in the video on their worksheets. Students are prompted to say the words along with the video. Teachers should encourage students to read the words with the video and before the teacher reads the words.

The activity can be done whole group, small group or as a center. For whole group, the teacher would simply display the video using your LCD projector and the students would complete the worksheet at their desks while the video plays. Teachers may pause the video at any time to add their own direct instruction if they chose. The video is self correcting so it does show the answers as it goes.

For Center activity:

STEP 1. Download the video onto the computers. You can use one laptop or tablet

and connect headsets using a listening center device for headphones.
STEP 2. Download the worksheet and key
STEP 3. Copy the worksheets for the students.
STEP 4 Set up the computers with headsets on all stations.
STEP 5 Cue up the video
STEP 6 Have students bring worksheet, pencil and crayons.
STEP 7 Start video
