Description

In each of my high school art classes I have my students make their own sketchbook. They learn a new bookbinding technique, such as folder style, coptic, or accordion, in each class. This lesson pack focuses on Belgian bookbinding techniques. This DIY sketchbook encourages students to take ownership of their sketchbooks by decorating and personalizing them.

The secret Belgian bookbinding technique is the focus for this lesson. Students learn the background of this bookbinding technique, tips on designing their sketchbook, and the basics of bookbinding through the PowerPoint. In addition to the PowerPoint, the Belgian bookbinding technique is demonstrated through a video and a handout for the students to reference.
