Students will design, make, and test models of a plant that effectively "cross-pollinates" using the wind. Students will make connections between the "traits" of their own models and adaptations of wind pollinator plants in nature to better understand positive and negative natural selection.

Students do all of this seamlessly with your guidance and the templates included in this resource.

This STEM challenge offers the opportunity for learners to practice critical thinking, problem-solving, inquiry skills, creativity, and more. They will also gain content knowledge in line with Next Generation Science Standards.

Apply concepts of statistics and probability to support explanations that organisms with an advantageous heritable trait tend to increase in proportion to organisms lacking this trait. Emphasis is on analyzing shifts in numerical distribution of traits and using these shifts as evidence to support explanations. Assessment is limited to basic statistical and graphical analysis. Assessment does not include allele frequency calculations.
