When a teacher is facing maternity leave, it can be very difficult and overwhelming to organize your teaching practice for the long-term sub. This template helps organize everything your sub will need to know while you are out - from grading to parent contact and everything in between.
The template is in a Microsoft Word document, so the teacher can edit as needed. Once the teacher completes this template, all s/he will need to do is attach his/her individual lesson plans and sit back and relax!
For organizing individual lesson plans, I recommend having an overview calendar for each unit. Place this in the front of a binder. In chronological order, place all of the handouts (with keys and rubrics) that the sub will need behind the unit calendar. I also keep student examples (for applicable activities) in the binder for the sub to share with students while I am out as well. The sub will teach each unit in the order described in the pacing calendar in the maternity plans template.
