What is this resource?
This is a set of work mats to use while teaching beginning letter sounds and letter recognition and identification. They are ideal for using with preschool, pre-k, transitional kindergarten, kindergarten, first grade, and ELL/ESL students. They would also work great in a special education or homeschool setting.

How can I use this resource?
There are many ways to implement these mats into your curriculum: small group, homework, morning work, intervention, literacy centers or stations, and additional practice and reinforcement. To save on printing, simply slide into a plastic page protector and use dry erase markers OR project onto an interactive white board to use as a whole group.
What materials do I need?
The printables included in this resource; highlighters, crayons, markers, or any other writing utensils for students to complete the work mat; plastic page protectors or interactive white board are entirely optional.
Who created this resource?
Abby Mullins, also known as Babbling Abby, is a former kindergarten and first grade teacher who most recently was an interventionist in a Title I school. She holds a BA in both psychology and elementary education, along with an MA in teacher leadership.
