Knowing which words to capitalize in a title has always been a challenge for my students every year.
I was really frustrated and struggled with finding effective resources to make this skill "stick" until I created this "hippo" themed resource.
Amazingly, this simple presentation communicated to my students everything they needed to know about which words to capitalize in the title of a book., and I immediately began to see my students have some success as they progressed toward mastery of this skill.
This great resource- in the format of a whiteboard presentation- can be used as a mini-lesson to introduce L.2.2a as well as L.3.2a at the beginning of the year. It will also be a great review tool as the year progresses.
After using it as a introductory mini-lesson, I use it throughout the year as a review. In years past, students have even suggested writing titles of imaginary books about hippos to "show-off" their mastery of this skill.
Hopefully it will work for you, too!
