    Activity for Biography Research Editable Flipbook

    • Students choose a Hispanic American to research and assemble a flipbook. There are 13 cover options featuring twelve influential Hispanic Americans and one blank cover template for students to illustrate should they wish.

    • Students will research information on the selected subject via the given links or QR Codes. Other sources would also be ideal.

    • The flipbook is used to collate information on the subject. It will also be the first draft whereby students will self edit and peer edit and publish from.

    • Students will publish their writing on given templates.

    • Display students’ research under the banner.

    The Flipbook Components: Editable

    The flipbook scaffolds the research process with guiding prompts. Type inside the text boxes to edit content.

    The following sections are included:

    A. The Writing Prompt x 1 template: instructions to collect information on any one Hispanic American’s biographical information.

    B. Hispanic American x 1 template: Name of subject, time period and place, what the subject is known for.

    C. Journey of Life x 2 templates: key information on the subject’s early life: family, childhood, education, personal interests, young adult life,

    major achievements and obstacles: milestones, awards, major successes,

    difficulties faced and outcomes

    D. Lasting Legacy x 1 template: current status: time period and place, most memorable impact, an important quote

    How to assemble: Flipbook

    You can choose either of the three options.

    A. Print out the templates in black and white. Cut around each template and assemble from smallest template to largest template. Have students color in image and lettering. Staple/glue at the top.

    B. Print out the templates on cardstock (different colors). Cut around each template and assemble. Students may color in image and lettering. Staple/glue at the top.

    C. Print out the templates in color. Cut around each template and assemble from smallest template to largest template. Staple/glue at the top.

    How to assemble: Interactive Notebook

    Cut around templates. Assemble smallest to largest. Glue down largest template (Lasting Legacy) in notebook. Paste other templates at the top tab one above the other from largest to smallest.

    This flipbook will help your students practice essential research skills while writing interesting biographies.

    Activity: 36 Parts of Speech Factual Task Cards

    The 36 task cards will not only help your students review parts of speech but will also equip your students with factual information on Hispanic Americans.

    Students will be able to record their answers on a Recording Sheet and check against the answer key or via the QR Answer Codes.

    There are also 12 writing templates for early finishers to complete. Students will write on any one Hispanic American of choice. The option to type in text is also available in Google Slides. Print to display.

    Items Included

    • 36 Task Cards with QR Answer Codes to review and practice the parts of speech (nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, pronouns, prepositions, conjunctions, interjections). Each card gives key information on an Hispanic American.

    • Answer Sheet (if not using QR Answer Codes)

    • Recording Sheet (1 page)

    • 12 writing templates featuring Hispanic Americans – when students finish the task cards, they can write on any one Hispanic American.

    • Link to access the writing templates in Google Slides. Full instructions in file download. Students can type in information and share via Google Classroom or Google Drive, alternatively, they may print reports to display.
