Culture clash or assimilation? "Real Women Have Curves" is a 2012 American film about a first generation Mexican American teenage girl who is lost in between cultural expectations, class constrictions, family duty, and her own personal aspirations.

The movie is rated "PG 13".

There are 11 questions for students to answer as they watch the movie, and 3 whole class discussion questions. Great film to analyze cultural expectations vs. American identity issues, body image, and media pressure on teenage girls to look the certain way. Could be shown during Hispanic/Latino heritage month or Women's History Month, or any other time you like.

The film is 86 min long. Great lesson to leave with a sub.
