This activity includes a video, discussion, and very brief writing activity to encourage students to learn the difference between the terms Hispanic and Lation and to better understand what one's identity means.
I first show students a modern video about the difference between Hispanic and Latino. (I learned this myself from the video!) After showing the video and discussing/explaining its main points, I have students get out a sheet of paper. They are to write what is on slide 3, but fill in numbers 1-3 with answers that
fit themselves. Do not have them fill in the blank after “me llamo.” After they have answered 1-3, we do a fun crumbling, paper mix-up activity where students read the descriptions and guess who wrote which one.
