Used in a World History course, but can be adapted for various purposes. Created to engage students with the material and teach them how to make connections to previous material and the world around them. Can be used as an alternative assessment, project or supplemental resource.
The Historical Analysis Notebook brings together various ways for students to practice thinking historically. Students began organizing a notebook at the conclusion of each chapter or unit. This ongoing assignment serves as an organizational tool and way to move students beyond the lower-level thinking skills. Parts of the assignment include: analysis of social, political, economic, and cultural trends found in the chapter or unit, examining one theme found in the chapter or unit (list of themes with definitions included!), incorporation of written and visual primary sources, connection to previous chapters, and connection to the world today.
Step by step instructions and PDFs containing material that can be used on its own are included! Brief sample also included!
