PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

In order for students to pick up on allusions in novels, they need to know two things: 1. the definition of allusion, and 2. the historical context of the setting of the novel. This assignment covers the concepts of historical context and allusion in relation to The Great Depression. This is a very comprehensive activity, as students need to take notes, highlight, analyze song lyrics, and find quotes!

This assignment was designed to come before reading To Kill a Mockingbird, but it can be used before any novel that is set in the time period! It uses multiple mediums, including artwork and song (link provided in the teacher's notes that come with assignment).
