Fun Historical Figures Homework for 1st Grade! These bracelets use QR codes to link students to review videos about the person in American History they learned about that day, AND also link families to a simple game to play at home to reinforce the students' new learning. These US History homework bracelets are loved by parents because they empower them to help their children review Social Studies concepts at home! Teachers love that this meaningful homework requires no grading and students get an extra exposure to the concept. Often seeing the content in a new format and new setting is all students need for it to stick in long-term memory.

Includes these Famous Americans discussed in 1st Grade:
Benjamin Franklin
Thomas Jefferson
Sacagawea with Lewis & Clark
Harriet Tubman
Theodore Roosevelt
George Washington Carver

After beginning a new topic, place the related Social Studies bracelet on each student (or their backpack) to take home. Each bracelet contains QR codes that link to 1-2 educational practice videos about the topic, along with a link to a simple review activity (known as the SECRET GAME) for the child to play with a family member to reinforce the new concept.

Teach 1st Grade? This is part of a HUGE, discounted First Grade Homework Bundle for the year!

Teachers love these bracelets because students spend extra time at home reviewing important historical figures (because there is never enough time at school), and parents are kept in the know without daily/weekly newsletters. Parents love these cool bracelets because they know exactly what their child is learning and the simple games & videos empower them to support their child. Students love the bracelets because they get to show off their new learning at home, and the videos are FUN!

Now, when the parent asks, “What did you learn at school today?” students proudly share and practice what they've done in class that day! The “Secret Game” is designed to get students excited to share the bracelet with their families and is a simple and meaningful way for the family to reinforce what was learned at school that day. By seeing the content in various contexts, and giving parents meaningful strategies to reinforce concepts taught at school, students better retain their new learning!

ABOUT Sight Word Bracelet

***Please NOTE:*** These QR Code Bracelets each link to educational YouTube videos on SafeShare.tv, using QR codes. If you plan to use these bracelets at school (rather than students' homes), please download the preview to test that the QR codes open on your school device (and on school WiFi) before purchasing. This is because some districts block YouTube, but it won't be an issue if parents use their own devices to access the videos at home. I value your time!***

To easily download a FREE QR Code Reader from the App Store (for iPhones & iPads) or Google Play (for Android phones and tablets), just search the phrase, “QR Code Reader” and choose the QR scanner you’d like. I personally use “QR Code Reader” on my Android and “QR Reader” on my iPad & iPhone. Both apps work well for me, but any free QR scanner will work!
