Using historical quotes in your teaching is a great way to bring history into your classroom as well as provide opportunities for students to engage in critical thinking! I’ve handpicked these quotes from influential Virginians to spark conversation among your students. I encourage students to dig deep and think about what these words mean for their own lives!
This resource includes 6 full-page posters with quotes from important Virginians (in color and ink-friendly versions). You can use them along with the included bulletin board letters to create an interactive display to which students can add their thoughts on sticky notes. Alternatively, print the quote worksheets and have students respond in writing.
Also included is an editable blank worksheet in PowerPoint
so you can add your own quotes!
Quotes from Patrick Henry, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, Maggie L. Walker, Booker T. Washington, and Woodrow Wilson are included.
