Product Description
In an effort to educate students on the more common winter holidays, I took to the internet and tried to find a handout formatted for kids. I could not. I used the information from the website indicated below, along with some other websites, and my own knowledge, to create a handout that would teach students about the holiday, why it was celebrated, who was important in it, and what miracles are believed to have happened. I also wanted to be able to discuss the difference between sacred and secular music, and to teach students about holidays they didn't know about (it's amazing how many kids know nothing about Chanukah). As a music teacher, I also wanted to be able to teach the students to rationally discern the difference between music that was purely about winter, music that was secular, and music that was religious, in order to quell any complaints of "this song is religious!" when singing about Santa Claus. This handout is meant to promote diversity and understanding, not cause division.

I had once intended to make a handout for the kids to fill out (just to remember the important details), but I do not think I ever did.
