Comparing the differing interpretations of the same historical event or topic by historians of different time periods, backgrounds, races, ethnicities, etc. is an enlightening pursuit. This project turns students into historical detectives and expands their knowledge of both history and how it is interpreted (historiography). The project challenges students to examine two books on the same historical event or topic written at least 10-15 years apart and compare and contrast the differences in interpretation, arriving at their own conclusions as to why the differences in interpretation exist. It includes the assignment description, the rubric and an example of a completed project.
