This reward system has greatly increased motivation and engagement in my classroom. The best part is that it's extremely simple, yet effective.
Just print out a few sheets and cut them up with a paper cutter. Then whenever a student says or does something really great, give them a history buck! If they get 5 history bucks, I let them turn them in as a free homework pass or bonus points on a test, but you could come up with your own prizes.
You wouldn't believe how motivated my students are to get their hands on these!
You can buy this sheet once and just keep printing it over and over again the rest of your career. It's a great investment! The history buck was drawn by my beautiful fiancee and put up for sale here with her permission.
Tips for use:
--You can write your school or classroom name across the top of the history buck on the original print out before you make copies. This will make it more personal for your students.
--I pre-sign 10-12 history bucks at the beginning of the day and put them in my shirt pocket. When I hand them out, the students write their own name on them. This saves time during class and also lets me know if I am celebrating my students' success enough throughout the day.
