Primary Source document analysis skills are central to both state and Common Core standards and the foundation for all historical research.
Developing these skills can be difficult, but these four activities will help your students to develop their research skills in an easy-to-follow, self-paced method. Each lesson has a different focus;
- Identifying unknown key words and phrases in a document.
- Researching author, location, and context to help.
- Making informed guesses regarding the purpose of a document.
- Recalling prior knowledge to inform guesses.
