History Heads are a wonderful tool. Then can be used with any time period, for any person, groups of people, or ideas.
Give each student a photocopied History Head, assign students to DRAW 5-10 (your choice) pictures that represent that person or idea INSIDE the head. Allow students to be as creative as they want. I always allow students to draw outside the head as well.
Additional: If you want this as an assessment, instruct students to write sentences on the back explaining the items they drew.
I have used History Heads as a filler on test days, or as "emergency plans" when I am out.
I have also used History Heads as part of an assessment and graded them (on the ideas, not art)
Examples of History Heads made in 8th grade:
French and Indian War
History Heads are not strictly for history classes, feel free to change the wording to fit any subject!
