"Columbus: The Triumphant Trailblazer"
A one-act perseverance play for stage presentation by young people
What made Christopher Columbus a successful leader? Even as a child Columbus recognized the importance and value of perseverance and nagged his father to allow him to pursue his dream of sailing and exploring the mighty seas. COLUMBUS, The Tirumphant Trail blazer tells of Columbus's historic journey that led to the discovery of a new world. The play opens in his childhood and carries us through 1485 when he started asking for support and aid to achieve his dream of sailing and taking a western route to reach the Orient. The King of Portugal, who he approached first turned him down immediately. He continued seeking support from others with no luck for seven years - his dream seemed impossible. Yet because of his tenacious nature and ability to persevere, in 1492 he was finally successful and received the aid and backing of King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella of Spain.
