The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere is more famous, but even more brave and daring was The Midnight Ride of Sybil Ludington. On a cold stormy night Sybil rode 40 miles to summon her father's minutemen. Today there is a statue in Carmel, New York commemorating her heroic deed during the War for Independence. Along with the exciting informational text are 10 Reading Comprehension Questions. They assess Main Idea, Finding Details, Drawing Conclusions, Causes and Effects, Making Inferences and Vocabulary. The mini-lesson leads students to reason out the above types of reading skills. Two black-and-white drawings are included as well as an answer key. The mini-lesson is on a word document that can easily be edited, rearranged, renumbered -- whatever you want to do with it to meet your students' needs.
