Histories and Stories of Ways of Life in Canada relates to students understanding of people and their stories of Canada and how the diversity of their heritage helped shape Canada as a nation.
To make this challenging topic more engaging, I included authentic quotes from real Canadian immigrants who moved to Canada from a variety of countries including Poland, Denmark, England, Italy, Mexico, Iraq, Scotland and so many more. Each page is a quick read and reflect- students read the quote from an immigrant (or person displaced by an immigrant in the case of the Mi'kmaq elders). Students are asked to reflect on the quotes provided and answer questions related to the current quote.
Additional information related to early Aboriginal conflict, refugees, push/pull factors, history of discrimination and Canadian events of importance are sprinkled throughout to enhance learning.
An out of your desk bonus activity is included and multiple ways of utilizing it are explained in the product.
Answer key is also included to make assessment a breeze!
