This is a brief, beginning of the year history activity that can be used at grade levels five through eight. The minilesson introduces students to history by asking them a series of simple questions easily answered in paragraph or list form.
The activities challenge the students to begin to think about history
before they begin studying it. Individual and group work is included, but all the work can be done alone if you prefer.
The student work should be done on the first day followed by whole class discussion the next day. The teacher’s
job is easy but may consume a little of your time.
