This is a PowerPoint lesson for my junior visual art class on the history and art of Chinese opera masks. It goes over the history and symbolism found in Chinese opera.
At the end of the lesson my students were given their art project which was to think of a character they would play in a Chinese opera and create a mask for that character. (I've left that slide in there so you can see how it was presented.)
The PowerPoint contains a lot of colourful examples and I found the kids enjoyed the lesson at the end! I also showed them videos of Chinese opera which you can find on YouTube.
