This 18 slide PowerPoint presentation exposes the student to the major artists/artworks from the Baroque art period. It is a part of an Art History unit I have developed covering important art periods, major artists and the development of art. The title slide lists all of the periods I have included in the unit, also at the end of the presentation I have included timelines showing all art periods the unit covers. This section is 18 slides long presenting important information about both characteristics of this art period as well as information and artwork of artists important to the art style. Artist included are Rembrandt, Vermeer, Caravagio and Rubens. I have included a section on scientific research on how Rembrandt used his skill to control the viewers eye movement as they looked at his portraits. I use this presentation as a lead in to a portrait project challenging the student to do more than reproduce a face but to be in control of how someone views the piece. This PowerPoint doesn't overwhelm the student with a multitude of images. Rather it has the student look deeper into art and why and how artists create pieces of art.
