PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This 17 slide PowerPoint presentation exposes the student to the major artists/artworks from the Middle Ages art period. It is a part of an Art History unit I have developed covering important art periods, major artists and the development of art. The title slide lists all of the periods I have included in the unit, also at the end of the presentation I have included timelines showing all art periods the unit covers. This section is 17 slides long and focuses on the development of bookmaking, manuscripts and illuminated letters. I use a few YouTube videos links, one showing how to mix egg tempera paint and another of illuminated letter images. Early on I have a link to a scene of a Monty Python movie which has decorated armor in the costumes. This scene always catches the students interest and leads into images of art artifacts similar to what they have just seen. The student realizes that this time period is one the know of and piques their interest. The bulk of the presentation is on Medieval manuscripts and guides the student to create an illuminated letter. This PowerPoint helps the student understand the craft of bookmaking, the art of illuminated letters and their place in the history of art.
