This short unit is great for an end of year activity or as an elective unit.
Students will learn about the pioneers of early flight with a special emphasis on the Wright Brothers and their contributions to achieving powered flight.
Students then learn about the basic aerodynamic principles of flight including:
1 - The construction and shape of wings to produce lift
2 - Pitch, yaw, and roll.
3 - Drag
Following this students will make their own paper aircraft, applying the principles they have learned. Included are three designs of varying levels of difficulty.
