This PowerPoint presentation and corresponding worksheet is a great way to introduce the history of space to your students. Students will be briefly introduced to great thinkers: Aristotle, Ptolemy, Copernicus, and Galileo. This one-day lesson reviews their contributions to astronomy, in addition to introducing and explaining the terms geocentric and heliocentric. Also included is a timeline activity on modern history of space.
Slide information is presented so that underlined information is what the students need to write down in their notes. Slides are designed so that all the information does not appear at once and continues by clicking through the program at the appropriate pace. Additionally, each PowerPoint slide set starts with a bell question to activate learning and an exit question to quickly assess students.
The files are PowerPoint 2007 and PDFs in a zip file. The PowerPoint slides are compatible with Windows 7/Power Point 2007 or later. Packet is appropriate for 5th grade, 6th grade, 7th grade, 8th grade, and homeschool students.
While this download is designed to be turn-key with minimal changes, please keep in mind that all schools are different regarding standards focus, class-period time, etc. If you have questions, concerns, or catch a typo (hopefully not!), please feel free to contact us at email@example.com. Also, please take a moment to review this after use. We hope you find this useful in your classroom! Thank you!
