Was there an army of European children that were sent to win back Jerusalem from the Muslims? Students investigate if there was a children's crusade based on the latest evidence! In this fun, Medieval Europe Claim, Evidence, Reasoning (CER) unit lesson, students investigate by reading and gathering evidence from the most recent scientific data and primary sources to answer a focus question. After the reading students create a claim, support the claim with evidence, write reasoning, and offer a conclusion. The lesson comes with:

1. An engaging one-page reading

2. Two Claim, Evidence, Reasoning templates (for class differentiation)

3. A reading annotation guide

4. A reasoning stem-sentence handout

5. Answer Keys!

The History's Mysteries Series is designed to engage students with new, relevant and engaging historical content. The lesson supports both literacy and writing standards.
