What better way to teach kinematics than have students actually see the success of their calculations?!
As long as you have taught how to use the kinematic equations in the x and y direction, you can do this activity. You can do this with regular physics students or an AP Physics class. This will also allow your students the opportunity to practice their d-t, v-t and a-t graphs once again as well as use their kinematic equations.
When I did this lab, there was cheering and celebration when pennies landed on the moving target! As long as you have a constant velocity car, then you can do this awesome activity.
