Hit the Road!
You Don't Belong!
Engage your students in this fun lessons on selecting the sentence that doesn't belong in the paragraph.
It includes a writing component to tie in higher level thinking and it also has printables to use for homework, reteaching, or even an assessment!
These lessons require no prep other than running copies for the printables. However, it can easily be done without the copies by projecting the printables on your board and having the students write their answers on paper. My third graders did all of the activities without any copies!
This lesson is great for grades 2 - 3. It can also be used for advanced 1st and struggling 4th graders.
This packet includes:
* 11 pages of anchor charts to project to teach the skill - has four practice stories to help the students learn to pick the sentence that doesn't belong
* 2 printable pages of cut and paste - cut the strips apart - throw out the one that doesn't belong and glue the rest in the best order - great for partner work
* 2 printable pages of stories with a sentence that doesn't belong - identify the sentence in the paragraph and then create a sentence that would go in the paragraph - wonderful for higher level students that need a challenge
