A full mini-unit on Hitchcock's film "The Birds." This package includes a movie viewing guide with examples from movie clips (YouTube) hyperlinked into the PDF document allowing students a first hand look at the elements they should be analyzing in "The Birds." The guide focuses on letting the audience play God (dramatic irony), framing the shot, and realistic characters - all elements of creating suspense.
Also included are slides of alternative movie posters used for the advertising of the movie and a worksheet that allows students to deeply analyze the posters in terms of color, theme and suspense.
There are two different writing assessments included - a modified and a more advanced, both with aligned scoring guides. There is also a graphic organizer to help students with formatting their writing to ensure success.
This is a super engaging package for students that includes multimedia and art analysis, reaching all types of learners! What better way to learn about suspense than from the Master himself-- Hitchcock!
