Another review game from my class to yours! This game can be used with any subject and just about any age level. The game is a lot like a hybrid of tic-tac-toe and connect four. The object of the game: get four of your honeycomb pieces in a row before your competitors can block you.
Here's how I personally play:
I make groups of 3-4 students and give them a packet of questions for the review. The students work together on their teams to find their answers. When we work in teams I have a "no one gets left behind" rule. A group cannot move on from a question until all of it's members have both the answer and the work. Once a team is done with a question they raise their hands and I come over to check their work. If they get it correct, one person can go to the board to move their piece. If a team wins with class time to spare, I reset the board and another round begins.
Note that there are only 6 pieces of each color in the game! Once all 6 of a teams pieces are on the board, they can then move one of those 6 to another position on the board. This way the board doesn't fill up and there is constant competition!
**HINT** Students get VERY involved in this game and it can get intense. At the beginning of every class I remind the class that I reserve the right to remove one of their pieces from the board or, even worse, move one of their existing pieces to a random spot of my choosing! This cuts down on a LOT of yelling and eliminates any bad sportsmanship!
