This is a fun activity for your students to do on Halloween or any time during the month of October. Students will love how the colors and items used on their glyphs depend on information about them as individuals.
Depending on the age group of your students, you may want to explain that “glyph” is short for “hieroglyphics”. Hieroglyphics were pictures, characters, or symbols that were used in ancient civilizations (particularly associated with ancient Egypt) to represent words or phrases.
Older students will love being able to read the set of directions while working independently. Younger students will be able to complete this activity with oral directions by the teacher.
