I have created these discussion questions on the model of Junior Great Books close reading strategies. Each section contains a prereading open ended question that relates to the story but is not dependent on students having read the story and a writing prompt that asks students to find evidence in the text to support their opinions.
These discussion questions would be appropriate in a 4th, 5th, of 6th grade classroom.
