Looking for a way to incorporate movies into your Language Arts classroom while still maintaining academic rigor? This adaptation novel study is right for you. Plus—and this is the most important bit—kids love it!
This works well as a class-wide project, or you can break your kids into leveled groups for a differentiated approach. Students can work independently or in pairs, depending on their level and abilities. The included working documents narrow students' focus from broad characteristics to similarities and differences, and finally to interpreting those differences. Students will use the information they collect to write five-paragraph essays, and then give a short, informal presentation to the class. This assignment covers many Language Arts outcomes in the US and across Canada!
