Vocabulary puzzle based on Chapters 33 - 41 of the novel by Louis Sachar.
There are 34 words for students to find. After they find the words in the grid, a second task asks students to write a new sentence using each word, showing its importance in Holes, or their understanding of it.
Use this type of activity to take a breather from reading to the text, or to ensure that students are familiar with the vocabulary in the novel. It's a good filler exercise to use on a Friday afternoon, or with early finishers, or to give to a sub teacher. Students see the puzzle format as a fun task, and often don't even consider the second task to be difficult.
The solution is included.
