I love literature circles and novel studies! I like to use comprehension questions that are specific to the text that the students are using. It makes it easier to give them specific feedback and guidance. After reading the assigned chapter(s), I have my students respond to a comprehension task card.
The Holes task card question set has 1 comprehension question for all 50 chapters and an answer key for easy accountability! The questions are designed to get the students thinking and having conversations about the multi-faceted plot line.
The questions include the following skills:
- Character Traits
- Problem/ Solution
- Key Details
- Point of View
- Cause and Effect
- Literary Phrases
- Internal Conflict
The students turn in their task card to the "Jot Lot". A Jot Lot is a pocket chart I have hanging in my room with the students' names. It makes it easy to see who has completed their task card and who has not. I quickly score them using a rubric, which you can find FREE in my store! I have the students glue their task card into their journal and write a brief reflection about their work.
Paper Saving Tip! You can print, laminate, and have them ready to use each year!
Happy reading! :)
