The ultimate Holes review game! Take your students to Camp Green Lake and have them dig holes! Students are separated into tent-teams and using the PowerPoint review game, are given an opportunity to answer plot content and narrative element questions about the novel Holes. If a student answers correctly, they DIG A HOLE!
Digging a hole is simulated by choosing a paper lunch bag that has been scattered around the room and opening it. Instructors will need to purchase a package of paper lunch bags and obtain about 10-20 pieces of "treasures" to put in to SOME of the bags-- make sure to leave 75% of them empty; Stanley didn't always find treasure is his holes. Candy, a cup of peaches, and a tube of cherry chapstick are great ideas and connect with the novel (minus the candy). If the student misses the question, the other tent team gets a chance to steal the point. The team with the most points at the end of the game win!
This package includes a PowerPoint with teacher instructions, introduction script to explain the activity in more detail, a bell ringer video to get students excited, over 40 review questions with game timers, an end of game discussion question, and exit ticket question! A doc. file of each question and answer is also available! The questions are not numbered in the PowerPoint (since the students don't need to keep track). This is done so slides can be moved, deleted, or added to personalize for your class!
I hope you enjoy this activity <3 Cheers!
