When you use Holiday Analogies, students will have fun while learning about analogies. It includes 15 pages that contain holiday themed analogy cards and answers. There are 11 analogy cards and 11 answer cards. The first couple of cards explain what analogies are and how to figure them out. It is a great game for work stations and for students to do during Guided Reading!
Why is it important to understand analogies?
Analogies provide a pathway for students to enhance their critical thinking skills, and can also help build on creativity. Analogies can measure and enhance reasoning ability and vocabulary skills. Concepts such a part/whole, opposites, synonyms, antonyms, and functions are used in analogies. These skills help children make connections and lead to deeper thinking.
Here are some ideas!
1.Use it as a memory or matching game for teaching analogies. Students can arrange the cards face down and try to figure out and find the match to each analogy.
2.It can be used for introducing analogies as a mini lesson.
3.Use as a station during Guided Reading time!
4. Direction cards are included so students can play without having to ask the teacher to repeat directions!
