I have had very good results pairing visual graphic symbols and sound production with students who have motor planning difficulties.
These materials are designed for children who are able to produce sounds in isolation but CANNOT combine sounds at the connected level. They have significant difficulty connecting the sounds together in a smooth coarticulated sequence.
For the best results, the students need to be highly familiar with the symbols.
I recommend pre-training with the visual sound cards. (Slides 12 - 17) before using the word cards.
Thumbnails of all sound symbols are included on page 18.
Multiple repetitions and modeling given in a systematic way may be needed since these children have difficulty establishing the motor pathways for speech.
