This is a two week unit to study how different countries celebrate Christmas and other holidays. This unit focuses on Australia, Mexico, France, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Israel (Hanukkah) and England. This unit is 74 pages and includes lesson plans, a printable student book with information pages. Each information page includes a reading passage as well as a QR code so students can scan with a mobile device and go to the internet to find out more about each country. There is also a page of questions for each country to check for comprehension. There is a craft for each country that can be used as a Christmas ornament. After all 8 ornaments are complete, students could use these as Christmas gifts for their parents! There is also a gift envelope included for the ornaments. Finally there are two tests included. The first test has the first four countries on it for use on day 5 and the second test has the second four countries on it and is to be used on day 10. This unit covers Common Core ELA Standard 2.RI.1 and Social Studies standard 2.C.1.1.
