This activity is a great way to have a little fun while practicing paragraph editing during the days leading up to the winter holidays.
This packet includes four separate editing worksheets designed to look like Jingle the Elf’s diary. They are in chronological order, but you can start with page 1, 2, or 3, depending upon how many days you want utilize the activity leading up to your holiday break.
The students can’t wait to see what will happened next!
It includes an optional quiz. The quiz uses several sentences from the previous days activities. It’s a great way to add accountability to the activity.
There is also an optional SURPRISE Ending! Kids love surprises, especially during the holidays! After the last editing activity, Use the handwritten note from “Jingles” to thank your class for helping him/her to edit the diary. Put a small surprise in a in a decorated paper bag to create suspense. After reading the note, open the bag and give each child a candy cane, a Hershey kiss, or a coupon for “shoes off” for the rest of the day. Whatever you decide, the kiddos will love it!
