In this project, students are asked to create a holiday gift wrapping container, calculate the surface area and volume, and compare the analytical results from the actual craft. The idea is that students should take measurements of the material and the craft, and use the geometric formulas to do calculations of surface area and volume. Students should note the difference in measurements due to cutting or overlapping pieces when taping the structure. Some errors may occur when the shape is not a regular prism or cylinder.
