This interactive SMARTboard lesson allows students to tackle homophones in a fun way with engaging holiday graphics. Elves, presents, snowman, and Christmas trees are just a few themes of slides that challenge students to complete sentences with two homophones in each. The activity begins with filling in one blank with a homophone of another word found in the sentence. The level of difficulty increases as the lesson continues and students will determine which set of homophones would complete the sentence without any hints. All slides are self checking by clicking the piece of peppermint candy. This lesson can easily be used as a mini lesson with teacher direction, a small group activity, or even an independent practice lesson in a center or station. Created with Smart Notebook 11. You will need SMART software to open this lesson. Students in lower grades might need a little more support as it may be challenging. Homophone pairs of words include: your, you're, their, they're, there, chews, choose, hall, haul, some, sum, mail, male, ore, oar, pole, poll, road, rode, crews, cruise, sweet, suite, Sunday, sundae, wrap, rap, billed, build, fairy, ferry, poor, pour, steal, steel.
