This is a great tool to encourage your students to read in the holidays. Many students are bored in their holidays and spend a lot of time indoors playing on electronics. I find that my students lose a lot of their reading skills over these holidays, so came up with a way to motivate them to read.
I simply print out the reading log and the record, put them on a clipboard (with a pencil attached), and give it to my class on the last day of term. Students who read on a certain amount of days (and get a parent signature) receive a small prize (such as a chocolate freddo). The top boy and girl reader receive a larger prize (about $5-10, depending on your budget!)
I was surprised with how many students got into it! Included are 1,2 and 3 week reading logs, and a book record.
